Michelle Briggs is an American contemporary fine art photographer who blends classical subject matter with innovative, technology-driven techniques. Drawing formal inspiration from the dramatic chiaroscuro contrast of Edward Weston and the conservationist principles of Ansel Adams, she explores the intersection of photography and painting to capture surreal, solitary moments. Her large-format composites convey a striking stillness and tension that often eludes traditional documentation.

Briggs adopts a thoughtful and well-structured approach to her art, drawing inspiration from her studies in Politics, Philosophy, and Law. This solid academic foundation is evident in her use of Light Painting, a technique that allows her to explore themes of existentialism and human nature. In her artworks, the sculpted light acts as a narrative element, accentuating the unique temporal qualities of each location she photographs. Currently, she is pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Digital Photography and is anticipated to graduate in January 2026.
